Cleanaer the worlds first Liquid Ionizer

What is an ionizer?

There are now two types of ionizer; air ionizer and liquid ionizer.

Air ionisers are widely available and used to create negative air ions and there are many air purifiers that use the air ionizing process. However air ions are not effective air purifiers and can create dangerous bi-products like ozone.

Liquid ionisers use a similar process to create liquidIons. However unlike the air ionization process no dangerous bi-products are created when liquidIons are generated. The process is so gentle no bi-products are created at all, just simple, safe liquidIons.

Liquid Ionizer – In a Nutshell

A liquid ionizer uses a safe high voltage to create tiny partially charged droplets. Each droplet is consistent in size and is about 1/10 the width of a human hair. As they are so small they are difficult to see with the naked eye. They are released from the liquid ionizer as a fine plume or mist or liquid ions. These liquidIons then float away carried on the natural air currents.  Each liquid ion then attracts particles floating in the air, from a dust or allergen particle to a bacteria or odor molecule. These particles are all attracted to the liquid ions. The liquid ions will absorb 99.9% of these particles when they come into contact.

The liquid ions then drag these particles down so they are removed from the breathable air. Once removed from the air they do not return. We call this the liquid ion lock-down effect. Due to fact there is only a residual charge left on the liquid ions during the liquid ionizer process the liquid ions can travel a great distance from the liquid ionizer device. Liquid ions have been shows to float up to 8m from the liquid ionizer in less than 5 minutes.

Liquid ionizer Technology

Atrium Innovation Ltd has developed a new spray technology that uses no propellants or heat. The technology is so flexible and can create many different forms of liquid ionizers. The liquid dispensed can be almost anything. From spraying a natural insect repellent that helps protect a room from mosquitoes and midges to a safe sanitiser that could kill bacteria in the air. The first Liquid ionizer is in the form of an air purifier called Cleanaer™ and is endorsed by Allergy UK.

The development as a premium spray technology started over 15 years ago by the inventor and 7 years ago  in a shed in Oxford, United Kingdom when Dr Alastair Pirrie set about bringing the technology to market. Cleanaer was first released in 2006 and is still sold today.

Atrium's CEO, Alan EJ Jones, commented "Our technology is incredible. Our goal is for it to be "the" spray technology of choice for all quality liquids. Our air purifier Cleanaer™ is proving highly successful. It not only removes particles from the air but also suppresses them to prevent them re-circulating. We have started initial tests on killing bacteria and hope to move to trials against MRSA (hospital bacterial bugs) in the coming months." When asked about the effects of the product against dust and allergen, Alan concluded " The beauty of our technology is it so efficient it achieves faster and longer lasting results than fan and filter technologies."

A liquid ionizer air purifier can be used to create special air cleaning droplets called liquidIons. During operation, tiny liquid ions are generated by the patented spray console and these charged droplets are released into the atmosphere. Liquid ions can extract pollutants like pollen, pet dander and smoke from the air naturally and safely.

How does a Liquid ionizer vary from an air Ionizer

An air ionizer air purifier is a device that uses a high voltage to ionize molecules of air. Unfortunately, in creating the air ions ozone can also be generated, which is toxic. Even in relatively low concentrations, Ozone can irritate lung tissues, cause chest pain, coughing, throat irritation, and can worsen the conditions of asthma.

Ionic air purifiers use an electrically charged plate to produce negative gas ions that particulate matter sticks to. Many ionisers are sold as air purifiers, but in this regard they are very inefficient. They will clean the air to a small degree, by charging dust and smoke particles which will then be attracted to a neutral or positively charged surface.

The Cleanaer air purifier is a liquid ionizer (not a gas ionizer). Cleanaer is a brand new revolutionary technology that uses electrostatics to create a fine plume of partially charged “liquidIons” this has a number of advantages over an air ionizer. LiquidIons travel much further and have a much greater cleaning effect than the ions produced by an air ionizer which only work in the immediate vicinity of the product. Air Ionisers leave brown marks and stains on furnishings and walls adjacent to the product and Liquid ionisers create partially charged liquid ions they want to travel away from the liquid ionizer device and into the space around them. So the do not leave marks or stains.
